Just a few days after becoming Inter Miami’s first-ever player to be selected to the Major League Soccer All-Star Game roster, Rodolfo Pizarro has been called up to the Mexican National Team for its upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches.

‘The Joker’ and Mexico will first host Jamaica at Mexico City, then travel to Costa Rica to face Los Ticos and then finish the trip with a match against Panama at the Estadio Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez.

These three games will happen in the span of six days.

Pizarro last played for Mexico during the FIFA Gold Cup in the summer, where he featured in the quarter-finals, semifinals and final. The 27 year-old registered an assist on the winning goal in the semifinals against Canada, but Mexico would end up losing in the final round of the competition against the United States in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Following a tough start of the season with Inter, Pizarro is finding his footing in Florida, as he has recorded three goals in his last three matches and being named MLS Player of the Week for Week 21.

The Tampico native is expected to miss Inter Miami’s next fixture in the league against Cincinnati at the TQL Stadium in Ohio on September 9th. It is also still unknown on whether or not he’ll be available to compete for Miami on September 11th., as Phil Neville’s side will host Columbus Crew at the DRV PNK Stadium.

Pizarro joins LA Galaxy’s Jonathan Dos Santos as the only players in the Major League Soccer to be called up by the Mexican National Team for September’s FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
